LAUNCESTON HAS AN ABANDONED HERITAGE ASSET

Rather than squander surpluses on tax breaks for the well housed and well off, we should/could add a prescription drug benefit to the Medicare program, shore up Social Security, value our heritage, fortify our defence systems, provide a quality public education for all, offer economic assistance to the needy and give a hand up to those in need ... especially those experiencing housing stress.

A power has risen up in the government greater than the people themselves, consisting of many and various and powerful interests, combined into one mass, and held together by the cohesive power of the vast surplus in the banks. It turns out that all too often people and places get to be imagined vas 'surplus to requirement'.
